Scotty Nguyen was born in Vietnam on 28th of October, 1962. In 1976, when he was 14 he came to United States illegally through escaping from a Vietnam returning boat. Because in the beginning, he was illegal so he faced many hardships there. But with the passage of time he got settled and started learning poker.
He learned the game of poker in California. His observation powers while playing poker were great and soon he realized that he is one of the best players in California. He has God gifted powers to enter into the minds of his opponents. He started getting popularity day by day. Nguyen won his first bracelet at a Limit Omaha Hi-Lo event in 1997. His First excellent achievement in poker was winning the WSOP main event in 1998 against Kevin Mcbride. Beside the Main Event bracelet, Scotty has won bracelets in three other events i-e in 1997- Omaha eight, in 2001- pot limit Omaha, in 2001- Omaha eight or better) for a total of four W.S.O.P. bracelets. He has also had success in the World Poker Tour, making seven final tables and winning the 2006 Gold Strike World Poker Open. All told, Scotty has cashed in over 100 major tournaments and ranks among the highest-earning tournament players of all-time. He won more than 7 millions in his poker history. Despite of playing poker Scotty has been showing himself on numerous T.V shows. He appeared on late night talk shows, and has appeared on the Ultimate Blackjack Tour and Elimination Blackjack. He co-starred in a poker related movie, in 2003 "The Big Blind".
Scotty has earned $4,727,737 in World Series of Poker (WSOP) tournament, $2,141,479 in World Poker Tour (WPT) and $100,468 in World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOP Circuit) main tournament. Although, Scotty has earned a lot but in his lifetime but he also faced many controversies of heavy drinking and yelling and slandering his opponents while playing poker. Nevertheless, Scotty still continued winnings. He nowadays is termed as "Prince of Poker".
